Applications are now open for Leadership Metrocrest Class 36, a civic leadership program designed to connect emerging and established leaders with the people, institutions and issues shaping Addison, Carrollton and Farmers Branch.
The annual program offers participants an in-depth look at how local governments, businesses, schools, nonprofits and civic organizations work together to address challenges and opportunities across the Metrocrest region.
Through a series of educational sessions, site visits and hands-on experiences, class members engage with community leaders and gain insight into the decision-making processes that influence the region's future.
Topics explored throughout the program include public safety, education, local government, economic development, health and human services, regional transportation, state government and public policy. Participants also take part in SIMSOC, a simulated society leadership experience designed to strengthen collaboration, problem-solving and leadership skills.
In addition to learning about key community issues, participants build relationships with fellow leaders from a variety of industries and backgrounds, creating professional and civic connections that often continue long after graduation.
Applications opened June 4 and must be submitted by July 15. Selected candidates will be notified Aug. 1, with waitlist notifications, if needed, scheduled for Aug. 15. Leadership Metrocrest will announce Class 36 on Aug. 20.
Program tuition is $1,300 for Chamber members and individuals sponsored by Chamber members. Tuition for non-members is $1,500. Payment is due Sept. 1.
Applicants must submit a completed application, résumé, professional biography, headshot and two letters of recommendation.
Leadership Metrocrest officials encourage employers, community organizations and civic leaders to nominate colleagues, employees, board members, volunteers and other community-minded professionals who demonstrate a commitment to leadership and service.
Organizers said the program is strongest when participants represent a broad range of industries, perspectives and experiences from throughout the Metrocrest area.
Businesses and organizations interested in supporting the program can also participate through sponsorship opportunities, which help fund the Class 36 experience while providing visibility among class members, alumni, Chamber members and community leaders.
