Business and community leaders can get a firsthand look at what it takes to run a school during Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District’s Principal for a Day program Oct. 23.
The community engagement program, held in partnership with the Metrocrest Area Chamber, pairs participants with principals at CFBISD schools. Participants will spend the morning shadowing a principal, interacting with students, teachers and staff and learning about the responsibilities and challenges campus leaders face.
The program is open to business, civic and community leaders. Participants can request up to three campuses when applying, with assignments made based on availability. CFBISD requires adult volunteers to complete a volunteer application and background check before working with students on a campus.
Principal for a Day will run from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at participants’ assigned schools. Principals and participants will then gather from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for lunch and a discussion about their experiences at the Nancy Watten Technology & Events Center, 455 E. La Villita Blvd. in Irving.
Applications are due Friday, Oct. 9. Participants will be contacted with additional information after campus assignments are made.
