Though return to school signals summer is coming to a close, the season’s heat doesn’t seem to be lowering. With most days still in the 90s, the common method of dealing with the heat is to stay at home, but some in Farmers Branch tackle the heat by going to Frog Pond Water Park.
Part of the community’s aquatic center, Frog Pond is open to all, both residents and non-residents through Labor Day.
The water playground allows the smaller kids to enjoy to all their wishes. There is also a lazy river for those who want a less active experience in the water and the water slide leaves a splash by every user. A food shack stands ready to provide nachos, sodas and other suitable snacks for hungry visitors.
A few visitors to the pond shared their thoughts with the Branch Herald.
A man named Ben was relaxing in the shade and when asked if the Frog Pond has helped him beat the summer heat, he responded “Hell, yeah.” He said his favorite part of the park was the lazy river.
Terry gave his overall enjoyment of the park a “10 out of 10.”
One mother, Sawnya, said she and her family had come to the Frog Pond “ten times. I work from home, and my kids like to come here a lot.”
The built-in entertainment isn’t the only appeal of the park. The budget-friendly fees, $5 for residents and $10 for non-residents along with additional fees for outside foods, also draws visitors. “It’s affordable, when a lot of places are not," Sawnya said. "Even my friend, who doesn’t live in this area, says the cost is preferable to other public pools.”
“Even though I don’t live in this area, I try to come here two or three times every summer,” Ben said.
Ben and Sawnya both said their favorite part of the Frog Pond was the lazy river.
Terry said his favorite is the water slides.
Sawnya said her kids prefer the water slides over anything else.
For amusement and affordability, the Frog Pond attracts visitors to Farmers Branch and provides a respite for the community.
