Posted

Residents across Farmers Branch, Addison and Carrollton spent Tuesday, Oct. 6, getting to know the people who help keep their communities safe during National Night Out.

The annual event brought neighbors together with police officers, firefighters, paramedics and other city employees for an evening of demonstrations, activities and conversations.

In Farmers Branch, children climbed aboard police motorcycles and public works trucks, met animals and watched firefighters demonstrate rescue equipment on a damaged vehicle. Families also had opportunities to meet the men and women who serve their community.

In Addison, residents enjoyed activities and more than 400 hot dogs served the the town's Parks Department.

Carrollton kept National Night Out in the neighborhoods. Carrollton Police, Carrollton Fire Rescue and the Office of Emergency Management visited participating neighborhood gatherings.

National Night Out is a nationwide community-building campaign designed to strengthen relationships between residents and law enforcement while promoting neighborhood safety.

The evening offered a chance for children and adults alike to see another side of public safety, one built on conversations, shared experiences and connections that extend beyond an emergency.
