A 67-year-old woman was hit crossing Valley View Lane on Friday night, May 10, in a hit-and-run.

At 9:19 p.m., Friday, May 10, Lenise Forsythecohn, was struck and thrown 50 feet by a dark gray SUV while she walked across Valley View east of I-35 in the right-most eastbound lane. She suffered brain injury,  a broken pelvis, three spinal fractures, a cut liver, deep cuts on her arm, as well as a fractured leg.

Forsythecohn is in stable condition at Parkland Hospital, where she underwent a brain surgery on Tuesday, May 14.

“Parkland is a really good hospital. They’re taking really good care of her,” said her stepdaughter, Whitney Crone. “She responds to commands… she can’t move her right leg so far.”

As of Wednesday, May 15, Forsythecohn is “stable and trying to heal,” said Crone.

“She was our source of income, so it’s just kind of like flipped everything upside down,” said Crone, “it’s just us.”

The Farmers Branch Police Department has identified two dark-colored SUVs as responsible for the hit-and-run.

“Our PD needs witnesses to help ID suspects,” said a Farmers Branch spokesperson.

“They got videos of two vehicles… but they can’t get the license plate,” Crone said.

Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out. Please contact the Farmers Branch Police Department at (972) 919-1406 or email pdinfoandtips@farmerbranchtx.gov.

There is no GoFundMe available as of right now, but Crone says that the family is working on it.
