Editor's Note: This story has been updated to include the November CPR and AED class.

From a Veterans Day concert and live music downtown to small-business workshops and a fantasy-themed library event, Carrollton residents have plenty of opportunities to learn, celebrate and connect throughout November.

Residents interested in entrepreneurship can attend Momentum Monday: Biz Builders on Monday, Nov. 9, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Josey Ranch Lake Library. The workshop will focus on programs and services available through the U.S. Small Business Administration, including business planning, funding, training and disaster assistance. Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions of an SBA representative. Registration is available through the SCORE small-business workshop program.

The library will also host Homebuying 101 on Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. The presentation will cover the homebuying process, including mortgage preapproval, loan options, upfront expenses, closing costs and the roles of professionals involved in a real estate transaction.

Realtor Justus Carlile of Makin' Moves Realty LLC and Chase Pierson, sales manager at Supreme Lending, will lead the presentation. The program is offered in partnership with Carrollton Public Library and the city's Community Development division. Registration is not required, but seating is limited.

The Carrollton Senior Center will recognize military veterans during a Veterans Day Celebration on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The event will feature a patriotic concert by the New Horizons Band Dallas. Attendance is limited to veterans and their guests or surviving spouses of veterans and a guest. Registration is required by Nov. 6 and can be completed at the Senior Center front desk or by calling 972-466-4850.

The Carrollton City Council will hold its next regular meeting Tuesday, Nov. 17, at City Hall, 1945 E. Jackson Rd. The work session begins at 5:45 p.m., followed by the regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the second-floor Council Chamber.

Carrollton Fire Rescue will offer free CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) training Thursday, Nov. 19, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Carrollton Fire Administration building, 1111 W. Belt Line Road, Suite 100.

The class will focus on hands-only CPR and AED use, along with choking response and CPR for children and infants. The training does not provide a nationally accredited certification card. For more information, call 972-466-9811 or visit the city's CPR/AED training webpage.

Later in the month, Carrollton's Sounds on the Square music series will return Friday, Nov. 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Historic Downtown Carrollton, 1106 S. Broadway St.

The event will feature a special Cocoa for Coats donation drive benefiting Metrocrest Services. Attendees who bring new or gently used winter clothing, including coats, scarves and gloves, will receive a cup of hot cocoa.

The evening's musical performer will be Yara Paige, a 16-year-old country singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Frisco. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and explore nearby downtown restaurants and shops.

Also on Nov. 20, Josey Ranch Lake Library, 1700 Keller Springs Road, will host Enchanted Library from 5 to 8 p.m. The fantasy-themed event will feature crafts, activities, photo opportunities and other experiences for all ages.

Costumes are encouraged, and snacks and activity materials will be available while supplies last. A sensory-friendly space will be provided throughout the event. Children younger than 9 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

In addition to its scheduled activities, Carrollton continues to provide residents with access to city information and services through the My Carrollton mobile application. Available on iOS and Android devices, the free app includes city news, event calendars, recreation registration, utility payments and tools for reporting community concerns.

The app also features Carrie, an AI-powered city guide that helps users locate information and navigate municipal services.

Residents can find additional recreation programs and seasonal activities in the city's Fall 2026 Leisure Connections magazine, available online and at Carrollton recreation centers, libraries and other city facilities.
