A Farmers Branch police officer fired at a suspect after the individual rammed a patrol vehicle during a pursuit that concluded in a residential neighborhood.

At approximately 7:36 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, a vending company employee reported that his company's box truck had been stolen from the 14000 block of Dallas Parkway in Farmers Branch. The company provided dispatchers with real-time location updates, allowing officers to quickly locate the vehicle and attempt to conduct a traffic stop. The driver fled the stop, and officers initiated a pursuit.

During the pursuit, the suspect drove erratically, at times traveling in the wrong direction, before entering a residential area. The incident ended in the 12300 block of Brittany Circle in Dallas, where the suspect stopped the vehicle, then reversed and struck an occupied patrol unit. The suspect subsequently drove the truck toward officers, striking a second occupied patrol vehicle, prompting one officer to discharge a firearm. The suspect was not hit.

The suspect, identified as Travis Stone, 31, later surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident. Stone is wanted on a full extradition warrant from the Arizona Department of Corrections for a parole violation related to armed robbery.

The officer who discharged the weapon has been placed on routine administrative leave pending review. In accordance with standard protocol for officer-involved shootings, two investigations are underway: an internal affairs review to assess compliance with department policy and a separate criminal investigation being conducted by the Dallas Police Department and the Dallas County District Attorney's Office. No officers or citizens were injured during the pursuit.
