On Thursday, July 11, Martin Baird submitted his resignation as District 2 Councilmember on Farmers Branch City Council.
“My family will be moving to Flower Mound next year to be much closer to schools and my job with the Northwest ISD,” Baird told the Branch Herald via text message on Saturday morning.
The resignation is effective November 12, 2024, and will allow the city to replace Baird’s position on the November 5 ballot, avoiding a special election and additional costs.
The Farmers Branch City Council is expected to vote to accept his resignation at Tuesday’s regular meeting, Baird said.
