The Firehouse Theatre is conjuring an electrifying and monstrously good time this fall with "Young Frankenstein," running Oct. 16 through Nov. 2.
From the comic genius of Mel Brooks, this production, directed and choreographed by Jill Lightfoot and music directed by Rebekah Prim, brings the hilarious antics of the screen sensation to life with unforgettable tunes such as “The Transylvania Mania,” “Roll in the Hay,” “He Vas My Boyfriend,” and “Puttin’ on the Ritz.”
“I’m so excited to be playing Frederick Frankenstein,” says Firehouse Theatre veteran Preston Isham. “This has been a dream role for a very long time. Audiences can expect a larger than life, exuberant production with plenty of laughs and more than a few big production numbers. I can’t wait to bring this zany doctor to life!”
The musical comedy is based on the iconic 1974 film "Young Frankenstein" written by Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder, which starred Gene Wilder in the titular role and parodies the classic monster movies of the 1930s.
Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced "Fronk-en-steen") inherits his family's estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (pronounced "Eye-gore"), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. "Young Frankenstein" is scientifically proven, monstrously good entertainment.
