The first visit: What actually happens when you call UrbanTail

Posted

There's a moment almost every new customer goes through before they ever call us. It usually sounds something like this: "I should be able to handle this myself."

I understand that feeling completely. Somewhere along the way, a lot of us learned that asking for help with something as basic as cleaning up after our dogs means we're failing at a simple task. But here's the truth I've seen over and over in this business: keeping a yard clean with one dog is manageable. Keeping it clean with two or three dogs, especially when life gets busy, is a different story entirely. It piles up fast, and once it does, it feels even harder to face.

So I want to walk you through exactly what happens when you decide to reach out, because I think knowing the process removes a lot of that hesitation.

Your Visit, Your Way

You choose the day that works for you. There's no rigid schedule we force on you. You also get to decide how the visit goes: some customers like to meet us and chat for a minute, others prefer we let ourselves into the yard while the dogs stay inside. Either way works. We don't ask for photos of the mess beforehand either. There's no need to document it or explain how it got that way. We've seen it all, and we're not here to judge.

What the First Cleanup Looks Like

The initial cleanup typically takes about 30 minutes with two of our team members working together. If it's been a while since the yard was tended to, we often fill four or five tall trash bags. If you don't have room in your own dumpster or trash bins, we haul it away ourselves. That part is just handled.

We also include free yard deodorizing with every initial cleanup. It serves two purposes. Walking the yard to apply it gives us one more pass to catch anything we might have missed, and it means your yard looks and smells fresh the moment we're done. If you'd like that deodorizing added to your regular weekly visits too, just let us know. It's an easy add-on for customers who want it.

Settling Into a Rhythm

From there, we set up a simple plan. Four visits, including that first deep cleanup, run $60 to $80 total, which works out to about $20 a week. We come back weekly after that. By the third visit, we've usually established a rhythm, and the yard becomes easy to maintain because we're staying ahead of it instead of catching up.

Every dog and every household is a little different. Some of our customers, like dog fosters and doggy daycares, need us three or four times a week. Others do just fine with a visit every other week. We build the schedule around what actually works for you and your dogs.

No Contracts, No Judgment

There's no contract to sign and no judgment waiting on the other end of that first phone call. What you get is a clean yard, a reliable team and one less thing to carry. Your dogs deserve a clean space to play in, and you deserve to stop feeling like this is a task you have to white-knuckle through alone.
