Posted

CARROLLTON – On Oct. 20, 2025, at approximately 10:12 a.m., Carrollton Police Officers were dispatched to a medical emergency in the 4600 block of North Josey Lane. Upon arrival, officers discovered 24-year-old Briana Casto deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

Through the investigation, detectives identified Jomaar Lee Davis, Casto’s boyfriend, as the primary suspect. A warrant for murder was subsequently obtained for Davis’ arrest as detectives worked to locate him.

On Oct. 21, 2025, information obtained by Celina Police Department led investigators to believe Davis was in the Van Alstyne area. Officers from Van Alstyne Police Department and Anna Police Department responded to the location and located Casto’s vehicle occupied by Davis.

After a period of negotiation, the Grayson County SWAT Team initiated an apprehension attempt using an armored vehicle. During the operation, Davis sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported for medical treatment, where he was pronounced deceased.

The Carrollton Police Department extends its appreciation to Celina Police Department, Van Alstyne Police Department, Anna Police Department and the Grayson County SWAT Team for their assistance and coordinated efforts in this case.

This remains an active investigation. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Carrollton Police Department at 972-466-3333.

No further details will be released at this time.
