Local oil painter Kalika Anteo is offering step-by-step beginning oil paint classes in January and February through the Carrollton Parks and Recreation Dept.
In this class students will learn to build their paintings from start to finish. Students will learn about value and color theory, composition, and aerial perspective and create beautiful landscape paintings.
The course will involve exercises, lectures, demos and many discussions around what each student hopes to achieve and how to get there.
Deadline to register is a week before the start dates. There are two three-week sessions available: Fridays, Jan. 9, 16 and 23 or Fridays, Feb. 13, 20 and 27. All classes are 4 - 7 p.m. at the Rosemeade Recreation Center, 1330 E Rosemeade Pkwy. in Carrollton.
Cost is $80 for Carrollton residents and $100 for non-residents for the three dates (classes) each month. All supplies are provided.
Students are encouraged to bring their own landscape photographs for potential paintings. Photos brought in by students will be evaluated by the instructor for feasibility for painting. This is a fun and relaxing course for adults as they learn a new skill.
To register, visit the Carrollton Parks and Recreation Department's Leisure Connection web site.
Anteo is a Board Vice President for Farmers Branch Art Association.
