The annual Fishin’ Fun tournament returned April 25 to Rawhide Creek at Gussie Field Watterworth Park, bringing a morning of family fishing despite unpredictable spring weather.

The event began under cool, overcast skies with a steady breeze, but conditions improved midmorning as the sun broke through. Attendance appeared noticeably lower than in previous years, creating a more relaxed pace along the creek banks.

Held as a free, family-friendly event, Fishin’ Fun featured more than a ton of stocked fish, along with loaner rods and reels and free bait for participants. Anglers competed for trophies and prizes awarded to the top three catches in each age category, with special prizes for tagged fish.

The annual event continues to draw families and young anglers looking for an accessible way to spend a morning outdoors, even as this year’s turnout reflected the impact of uncertain weather.
