Chamber calls for legislative action on childcare bills

Texas businesses are facing a workforce shortage — and lack of affordable, quality child care is a major contributing factor. With only 80 available workers for every 100 open jobs and 60 percent of non-working parents citing child care as a primary barrier to employment, the economic impact is real: over $11 billion lost annually in Texas.

That’s why the Metrocrest Chamber is advocating for a slate of pro-business, pro-family bills that would provide voluntary tools — not mandates — to help families access care and allow businesses to support their workforce.
