Summer is flying by, and the first day of school is just around the corner.
Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (CFBISD) is inviting current and incoming district families to its annual Back to School Fest from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 31, at Ranchview High School, 8401 Valley Ranch Parkway E. in Irving. The first day of classes for the 2026-27 school year is Tuesday, Aug. 11.
The free event will offer backpacks for students in prekindergarten through 12th grade, free school supplies while they last, limited free haircuts, enrollment assistance, transportation and meal application help, and required vaccinations for registered students (fees apply). All students must be accompanied by an adult.
Families must register in advance to guarantee a backpack and to receive vaccinations during the event. Students who are not registered will not be able to receive vaccinations on-site, and backpacks will only be guaranteed for registered students. District officials also noted that bounce houses will not be part of this year's event because of updated requirements.
Families can register for the event at: CFBISD Back to School Fest registration.
District officials are also encouraging families not to delay enrolling students for the upcoming school year. Enrollment is available online, or families can receive in-person assistance from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the CFB Enrollment Center, 1820 Pearl St. in Carrollton.
Enrollment information is available at: CFBISD enrollment page.
