Friday the 20th of September is a Professional development day for teachers and staff, as well as a student holiday.

Farmers Branch Animal Services and Operation Kindness are offering essential health services, including vaccines and microchips, for dogs and cats. The event is free for residents of Farmers Branch for the first 200 pets, residents must present proof of residency. Limit of 4 pets per household.

Help Christ UMC raise money for scholoarships and ministries by donating your unwanted items! Carter BloodCare, Metrocrest Services and the Red Basket Program will also be on hand.

Bring items you want responsibly recycled to the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event to be held on Saturday, September 28 from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Senlac Service Center, 13333 Senlac Drive, Farmers Branch, Texas. Items accepted at the event: Aerosol sprays Automotive fluids and oil filters Batteries of all kinds Chemical products for home use Cleaners and polishes Computers and cell phones Fluorescent light tubes Lawn, garden, and pool chemicals Paint Residents participating in the event will need to bring proof of residency (State issued ID or utility bill).

McLaughlin Strickland Elementary School will be hosting our 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat! Come join us! Special guests include the Farmers Branch Fire Department, the Farmers Branch Police Department, the Branch Herald, Cub Scouts Pack 1213 and Manske Library.

Diá de los Muertos, Day of the Dead, is a celebration of life and death. Join the Historical Park and the community as we welcome back and honor the souls of our deceased loved ones. Activities include musical and dance performances, Loteria, kids’ crafts, an airbrush artist and a beautiful community altar in the Old Church where attendees can pay respect and celebrate beloved family and friends. Notecards, candles, and flowers are provided to place on the altar. Attendees are invited to bring duplicate photos or mementos to lay at the community altar to honor their loved ones; items will not be returned. Festival food and beverages will be available for purchase.

The Farmers Branch Rotary Club and The Branch Connection will celebrate our veterans a special guest speaker, brass band and a hot dog lunch.
